Positively Awesome Giveaway!

By IBEX Staff

By now you know that IBEX culture is a little bit, hmm, how shall we say – different! We have weird titles (i.e. Alpine Crew, Grumpy Goats, Feedcounters etc.), we have daily Herddles and we go out of our way to make our customers and our fellow Herd members smile. Strategies we like to do because we want to work in a positive, happy environment that’s productive and attracts good people – customers and staff alike.

Of course, being positive is not always easy. The stress and challenges of everyday life can take their toll on even the most positive people. That’s why it’s good to get a little reminder, some inspiration and some new ideas once in a while. On that note, IBEX is pleased to offer a chance to win a ticket to The Power of Positive – an event that promises women an opportunity to recharge, reconnect and relax.

(For the gentlemen out there, think how great of a surprise this would be for your wife, partner, mother, daughter or other significant woman in your life.)

The Power of Positive

To win, simply comment on this post with one idea of how you stay positive and your name will be entered to win a complimentary ticket to this one day event held on Saturday, April 28 from 9:00am – 4:30pm at the Prairie Theatre Exchange. The Power of Positive will allow you to:

We can’t wait to hear all your positive ideas and give one lucky lady The Power of Positive.

Want to see other positive things that happen around the Pasture? Check out this past blog post on Meaningful Recognition.

  1. I work with children and youth in the inner city. For a lot of our children its not easy growing up and living in an enviroment that has so much violence going on in and around us daily. However the children are resilient and can forge ahead. Thats what allows me to be greatful knowing they have hope and allow me to walk with them on there journey of life . We can be positive together.

  2. I belive that for some people it’s not easy to be positive and that it’s something that we need to tell ourselves to do. I work with people who have intelletual disabilities and I there is one particular lady that I work with who just always has the most positive and heart warming things to say about the people around her and the people that support her on a regular basis. Every morning for the five years that I directly supported her, she would great me with “Leanne you are so wonderful and I love spending time with you”. No matter how many times she said and knowing that she was going to say every moring made no difference on how it made me feel. The reason it made me feel so good was that even on her worst day it was the first thing she would say to me. Her positivity and encouragement is what helps me remind myself to try and be more positive everyday. As i am one of those people that struggle and have to remind myself to be more positive.

  3. to be always GRATEFUL of everything .

I asked an old blind man (just today) whom I accustomed to see every morning near my place on his daily commute to work, as he amazes me a lot.” Do you commute to work even during winter time? and he answered with a smile “o Yea”. He lives farther away from the bus stop, has to cross 2 intersections to be there & has to catch 2 bus rides going to work yet when he talks he always emanates positive words & thoughts. Not a sliver bit of negativity. With only a guide stick and a keen pair of ears. He’s definitely one of those many who influences me even more to stay positive.

  4. I’ve been down a lot these last few months and what gets me through is focusing on what really matters; my own health and loving those close to me. My advise is to get more exercise and spend time with a child. Children always let you know how it really is.

  5. I stay positive by reminding myself of all the things I have accomplished throughout the day. That and some cuddles from my cats and my gent never hurts!

  6. I go home and play with, get cuddles, hugs, and peanut butter covered kisses from my grandchildren. Then the poodle sleeps on my knee. Wipes out any negatives in my day

  7. The best tool that I have for staying positive is Empathy. Many think that being empathetic is for the other person, but I don’t believe that is the case. When you can truly understand where a person is coming from, and what their thought process is, it can eliminate all the anger, frustration, and negative feelings and allows you to disagree constructively and to not take things personally.

  8. To keep my day positive I start by listing 3 things I am thankful for today. When something comes up that is postentially negative or stresful during the day I remind myself of what I am thankful for. It helps shape my perspective for the day, keeps me from sweating the small stuff later on.

IBEX Payroll extends our profound respect and immeasurable gratitude to all the ancestors and keepers of the land on whose traditional territories our work takes place. We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people. This land is sacred, historical, and significant.

Every time we acknowledge this truth, we have an invitation and an opportunity to reflect on the wrongs of the past, what we do in the present, and what we can do to continually honour the people whose lands and water we benefit from today.

This statement only acts as a first step in honouring the land we reside on and its peoples, and must be paired with education, understanding and informed action.
