This past year has been a very productive one here at the Inclusion System, and with 2017 coming to a close, we decided to take a look at which of the Inclusion System Blog posts have been the most popular this year.
Here are the top 3 people’s favourite blogs of 2017!
As leaders, we’ll all face a time when keeping a firm hand seems the only way to achieve results. Maybe your team is greatly under-performing, or your problem employee has made one too many mistakes. Sometimes, kicking some butt is simply the fastest way to see any changes or improvements.
But this method comes at a great expense, and it’s an expense that no leader should ever risk.
Engaged employees make the workplace go round. When you actively engage your staff you’re creating a team that is committed to their work, and believes in your organization’s goals, values, and overall success. With that said, how does one engage their team?
Contrary to popular belief, raising engagement doesn’t have to mean raising pay or providing lavish company benefits. (Although, free food is always appreciated.)
One of my favourite employee engagement strategies is one that I learned while facilitating a leadership workshop. It’s simple, effective, and best of all it’s completely free.
It’s now common knowledge that when an employee feels connected to their workplace, they’re more engaged and happier at work. I firmly believe in this notion, and have written several blogs that discuss the importance of workplace connections, as well as share some of the best ways I’ve found that help foster meaningful connections here at the IBEX.
One of the newest methods I’ve been adopting is one borrowed from customer service standards. Those of us in the retail industry are probably familiar with the 10-4 rule. For those who aren’t so familiar, it’s a simple and highly impactful tool used by many successful retailers such as Starbucks.
Here’s my take on the 10-4 rule, and how I’ve been using it to successfully create a better feeling of connection here at IBEX headquarters.
From all of us here at Inclusion System, we’d like to thank everyone for letting us be part of your 2017 leadership development journey.
Happy Holidays and all the best in the year to come !!
IBEX Payroll extends our profound respect and immeasurable gratitude to all the ancestors and keepers of the land on whose traditional territories our work takes place. We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people. This land is sacred, historical, and significant.
Every time we acknowledge this truth, we have an invitation and an opportunity to reflect on the wrongs of the past, what we do in the present, and what we can do to continually honour the people whose lands and water we benefit from today.
This statement only acts as a first step in honouring the land we reside on and its peoples, and must be paired with education, understanding and informed action.
